How To Homeschool When Life Gets Busy

How to Homeschool When Life Gets Busy In the beginning of the year, I mentioned wanting to share a bit more about our homeschooling life… Well, TODAY is the day! I’m currently homeschooling my 9 year old (4th grade level), my 6 year old (1st grade level) and my almost pre-k 3 youngster. In this post, I’d like to touch upon some of my best practices that help make homeschooling easier when life gets super busy around here. Right now, I’m in one of my busiest seasons of my life as my family and I just bought our first home! YAY! The house we bought is a fixer upper so we’re in the process of having our “new” home renovated before we actually move in. These last 6 months have been extremely busy as we were house hunting, going through inspections, planning the renovation, and budgeting to make it all happen.  During all of this, our homeschool life has never been better & I truly believe it’s because of what I’m about to share with you. My children are like yours! My children are like most children in the sense…

Hello there Nora… Nora Knickers – A Pattern Test

I’ve come to realize that my life is pretty much going to be busy from here on out. Mothering, running a household (cleaning, cooking, laundry, managing a budget), and homeschooling my children can be so tiring. It’s even more so when my husband is traveling for work. Just this past month, my husband’s been gone at one point or another almost every week. The daily grind seemed never ending! I felt like I didn’t have a moment for myself – much less, for sewing. However, I was invited to test the Nora Knickers by Daydream Patterns and I was so excited for the push to MAKE something that I’ve never made before. I hurried to complete the housework, made sure I helped the kids with their assignments & plugged away at the sewing machine whenever I could. This pattern allowed me to stop and restart as often as I needed because I didn’t have to think…

Pattern Test: Franki by The Wearable Studio

Hello there! It’s me again… stopping in to share with you a new sewing pattern I recently pattern tested for. It’s the wonderfully designed and equally figure flattering Franki by The Wearable Studio. This is the very first sewing pattern from indie pattern designer, The Wearable Studio, and I delighted in being able to play a part. It’s always great seeing others do what they love… It must be so exciting releasing your very first sewing pattern – putting your design out there for others to try out, critique, and help improve… what a thrill! Franki The Franki exudes femininity without sacrificing comfort…  it can be made to look boxy or drapey depending on your fabric choice. My Franki was made out of a beautiful baby blue linen/rayon blend that I’ve been obsessed with.  And the color seriously reminds me of Easter! Easter morning attire, perhaps? I’ve used this fabric before many times! I used it for the pinafore dresses I made last summer & for the dresses I made in November for my oldest daughter’s 6th birthday. It’s truly a…

A Handmade Toddler Christmas Dress

I can’t believe it’s about to be Christmas again! It feels like just yesterday I was baking homemade Christmas cookies with my little ones & getting ready for Santa’s 2016 visit… Though a whole year has passed since then, we’re going to be doing the exact same thing in a few days! This year, however, I had a goal to sew something… anything… As much as I’d love to be that girl that sews every single day, I’m not. I sew when I want to or feel inspired to… and I can go weeks between projects because I tend to be curious about a lot. Last year, it was Christmas cookies. This year, however, I settled on making my toddler girl a Christmas dress. Initially I planned on making one for me too & one for her sister to match, but I suddenly got sick. I ended up having to take some super strong antibiotics that made my head hurt, my body lethargic… and so I welcomed the opportunity to rest mentally & physically. As my luck would have it though, my husband…

I made myself a Bralette! Featuring the Bella Bralette PDF Sewing Pattern by Daydream Patterns

Hey there! I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving and had the opportunity to spend some quality time with your loved ones. At my home, we have a little holiday tradition where my parents & siblings come over to our place after Thanksgiving dinner and spend the night. We play games, eat more delicious food, watch movies… and settle in like little bears getting ready for winter. It’s quite memorable! And I look forward to it all year long & this year was no different. However, in my efforts to sew as often as possible and not wait for “the perfect moments,” I ended up stealing minutes here and there to plug myself into finishing up a pattern test. While everyone was making up their minds whether or not to go see Thor Ragnarock in the theaters, I was busy sewing away. Don’t be fooled though, my sewing area is right in my living room so I was still part of everything! I actually really enjoyed sewing while talking with my parents — a luxury I don’t often have. The pattern I was testing was the Bella Bralette & Cami PDF sewing pattern…

Thankful Sewing Blog Tour

Hey everyone! Happy Thanksgiving!!! Today I’m participating in the Thankful Sewing Blog Tour & I’m pretty excited for my turn to share because I have so much to be thankful for this year! If you’re new to my blog, I started sewing in 2012 with the goal of making my 1st baby girl her 1st Birthday dress and I haven’t stopped since. I started blogging about my handmade journey this year. To kick off my thankful blog post, I’d like to share about my most recent handmade dresses. My oldest girlie just turned 6 years old this month and I’ve continued the tradition of making her birthday dresses almost every year. This time, I also made one for her little sister as well… because if one of them sees the other with a new PINK dress, I’d have to make one for the another one too. Past events have confirmed this… you can read about that here… I’m so thankful I get to create special dresses for my little girls. I’ve always dreamed of doing this! And I&#8217…
