Well, HELLO THERE! I’m so glad you stopped by my little blog. Today, I wanted to share with you one of my most recent makes – The Babe Hoodie by DIBY Club. I made the pullover nursing version which is a lovely add-on to the original Babe Hoodie pattern.
This pattern has everything you’ll probably ever need to make the hoodie of your dreams.
Options include:
The one I made, I think, is just perfect for spring! And I just LOOOOVE IT!
And, not just a little bit, but a whole lotta bit!
This might sound crazy to some nursing mothers, but in my almost 7 years spent as an extended-breastfeeding mom, I’ve never owned one of these tops. You know, the ones that have an opening underneath a layer of fabric that allows for discreet breastfeeding… yeah those! I often wore clothes that had buttons, zippers, or easy access to the milk jugs. But seriously, what have I been waiting for?
It’s clear to see that I was waiting for THE BABE – The Babe Hoodie, that is!
I don’t know why it has taken me this long to try out this sort of “nursing-mom attire” – maybe it’s the rebel in me? Not wanting to wear what people expect me to wear because I’m breastfeeding or something? I don’t know.
However, this hoodie is just wonderful. Well, not “just” wonderful… absolutely wonderful!
I never knew how amazing it would feel to have the upper part of my chest covered as I nursed. It was UDDERLY life-changing…HAHAHA!! notice what I did there?
But all jokes aside, I loved not feeling exposed. That was new to me since I usually don’t cover up in public because my nurslings weren’t ever cool with that. They were never accustomed to me covering them under a blanket or with a “nursing cover” when I nursed them at home so they retaliated whenever I tried to do it in public – whether out and about, or even at church. So I made the choice long ago, to just feed my children however I needed to.
I’m overjoyed that whenever I’m wearing this hoodie, I’ll feel stylish, yet modest – a combo that’s a sure winner for me!
I made my hoodie out of a cotton lycra in the color Dark Rose that I purchased from Girl Charlee. This shade of pink gives me all the heart eyes. I have plans to fill my wardrobe with colors that make me happy and this color definitely gave me that feeling!
For my version, I went with the welt pockets. Aren’t they nice?
For my hood, I wanted to add a distinctive touch – and I chose to use some floral lace on the center panel.
A perk of making my own clothes is possessing the ability to make it completely my own and unlike anything that already exists in the world. This floral lace was perfect for that. I bought it almost 2 years ago for my baby girl’s 1st birthday dress & though I only bought 1 yard, I have a significant amount left over because I use it sparingly. I dread the day it runs out because I love it so much.
When it comes to details, this right here takes the cake.
I treasure these photos so much & all the memories of this moment that we shared when this picture was snapped.
It was quite memorable actually. Lets just say I had never ever been so cold in my entire life. I felt like one of those models who had to work in extreme conditions… LOL. But there was no other time I could take these pictures since my hubby had a week long business trip to the UK a couple of days after & he was my photographer! I braved the lower 40 degree weather (with high winds, might I add!) so I could have these pictures. The fact that my chest was covered kept me warmer than if I had worn something else… so I especially appreciated the extra warmth there.
I hope you sew up yours and love it as much as I love mine!
Happy Living, Loving, and Making
Karina ♥
